When walking around time square I could hear the echoes of songs like Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys or Welcome to New York by Taylor Swift. Songs like these along other media in pop culture has inspired this idea of New York Being the place of dreams. With this project, I wanted to document a different version of the city than what you hear about in the media. Through photographing the touristic area of Time Square I start to build a critique and bring to question this romanticization of The Big Apple.
